After a recent Windows update, some users may experience that VMware Remote Console (VMRC) no longer starts. Instead, VMRC shows the following error:
vmrc.exe – Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point SetDialogDpiChangeBehavior could not be located in the dynamic link library
C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Remote Console\vmrc.exe
The issue appeared after installing the March 10, 2026 Windows update (KB5078938) and affected is VMware Remote console version 13.
Symptoms
- VMware Remote Console fails immediately after launch
- Reinstalling the same VMRC version does not fix the problem
- The error points to a missing Windows API entry point:
SetDialogDpiChangeBehavior
Solution
The workaround is to downgrade VMware Remote Console to version 12.0.5.
